The freegan community – the unsung heroes to food wastage in Singapore

Did you know? In 2016, 679, 900 tonnes of food waste was disposed in Singapore. With the help of Daniel Tay, a member of the freegan community in Singapore, we take a look at how freeganism can help to reduce food waste in our short documentary. The film also dives into the various activities that the freegan community engage in which aims to reduce consumerism and save the environment by repurposing discarded items and food.

We hope that with our short documentary, we are able to abolish the stigma that constantly surrounds the idea of dumpster diving and appreciate the efforts that the freegan community in Singapore is taking to reduce food waste in the city. We have learnt a lot throughout the whole process of filming this film and we are excited to share it with all of you. We hope you will enjoy watching our short documentary as much as we enjoyed filming it! J
